I’ve seen a lot of DIY makeup remover wipes, but none that use unbleached paper towels (or a mason jar). White paper towels are bleached using chemicals and that’s something I really don’t want to put on my face (or anywhere else!).
Here is a cheaper, healthier option to the makeup remover cloths. It’s something you can feel good about putting on your face.

Materials
- Distilled Water
- Dr. Bronner’s Castile Peppermint Soap or Bert’s Bee Baby Body Wash & Shampoo
- Organic Coconut Oil
- Unbleached Paper towel (not pictured)
- Mason Jar w/lid
- Drill
- Round File

Mix 2 cups of warm distilled water, 1 Tablespoon Organic Coconut oil and a couple squirts of Dr. Bronner’s. Using distilled water will prevent mold from forming especially if you live in a humid climate.
Note: If you want a peppermint, refreshing feeling then use the Dr. Bronner’s. If want a more mild, soapy feeling use the Bert’s Bees. Heck, make two different jars if you want.
Mix together in a sealed container until oil is melted.
Cut the paper towel to fit the jar. I used a serrated knife.
Place the paper towel roll in the mixture for 20 minutes.
Turn over the paper towel to soak the other side for 20 minutes.
Drill a hole in the center of the mason jar big enough for the paper towels to slip through. Use file to smooth the jagged metal.

Place the soaked roll into the jar. Remove the center cardboard roll.
Bring up the towel from the middle through the hole in the lid and screw the lid on.
It even looks nice on your bathroom counter. Embrace the brown and go ala natural!

I like this. I never thought about the white paper towels being bleached. Hmm…good to know.
