Upcycle With A DIY Whiteboard

Personalizing your own dry erase board is childsplay when you think about driving down to Walmart or Office Max to pick out an imported cookie-cutter whiteboard wrapped in a heap of misused plastic.

Choosing to whiteboard scrap wood means upcycling (environmentally friendly) and also scores you mega points for creativity. I chose a fragmented piece of wood for a raw materials appearance and its ability to fit in smaller spaces without compromising writing room.

Visual people appreciate tangible lists and many cannot function successfully without it and a whiteboard combined with your computer helps save on paper.

A resourceful characteristic when creating your own whiteboard is its ability to become double-sided, making it double functional.

What you will  need:

Dry Erase paint by Rustoleum.

Paint roller

Tray

Drop cloth

Paint brush

Sand paper

Primer

Scrap Wood

Lay your drop cloth down.

Sand the wood and prime it (only prime raw woods).

Use your roller and your paint tray to roll on a nice coat of the dry erase paint and let dry. Use your paintbrush for edges and corners.

It is a good idea to apply a second coat.

Let the paint dry for three days before starting to write on it to ensure proper erasing.

Here’s a tip: Each morning take a picture of your whiteboard with your cell phone to have on reference each day.
